Job Description

Postdoctoral Research Fellow
- Epigenetics Laboratory, Department of Biochemistry, NUI Galway, Galway, Ireland

Description: A position for a postdoctoral research fellow will be available from February 2008 for a highly motivated individual in the new research group of Stephen Rea at the Epigenetics Laboratory, Department of Biochemistry, NUI Galway, Ireland. The group will investigate the role of histone modifying enzymes in the regulation of gene expression and in tumorigenesis. The project will involve tissue culture, protein expression, purification & analysis, PCR, Q-PCR, generation of siRNA constructs and cloning into viral vectors, preparation of viruses, infection of cells with viruses, cell transformation assays and immunofluorescence microscopy.

Qualifications: Candidates must have submitted or obtained their PhD degree. A demonstrable knowledge of chromatin and cancer biology is also desirable.

Salary Details: The funding for this position will start at €39,588 (point 1 on the NUIG postdoctoral research salary scale) for two years. The position is funded from a Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) President of Ireland Young Researcher Award (PIYRA).
