Postdoctoral Fellowship in Epigenomics
- Wellcome Trust Genome Campus, Hinxton, Cambridgeshire, UK

Description: We are looking for a Postdoctoral Fellow to join us at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory – European Bioinformatics Institute (EBI) at the prestigious Wellcome Trust Genome Campus in Hinxton, Cambridgeshire. We are a leading international provider of cutting-edge research, service and training in the field of Bioinformatics.

A computational biologist is sought to participate in the investigation of large-scale epigenetic mechanisms influencing transcriptional regulation and cell fate assignment in mammals. The successful candidate will be responsible for the analysis and interpretation microarray and high-throughput sequencing data as well as the development of new analytical methodologies.

An initial contract of up to 2 years will be offered to the successful candidate. This can be renewed, depending on circumstances at the time of review.

There is a Campus bus service running between Cambridge and Saffron Walden, car-share schemes, an on-site restaurant, café, gym and an active sports and social scene.

Qualifications: Applicants should hold a PhD in a relevant field (e.g. Bioinformatics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, or Biochemistry/Molecular Biology with a computational component). Candidates with a solid background in computation and current knowledge of eukaryotic genetics will be considered. Expertise in statistical methods and the analysis of oligonucleotide microarray data from several major platforms (e.g. Affymetrix, NimbleGen) is essential.

Advanced experience with numerical computing software (e.g. R/Bioconductor or Matlab) is required, as is fluency in at least one high-level programming language (e.g., Lisp, Python, Java, Perl). Some experience with heterogeneous data integration and programmatic database usage is also desirable. The post holder will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a high degree of proficiency in English, and enjoy working in an international team environment.
